Our Policies
Clear guidance, professional standards and responsible crematorium care
Our policies
At Baldarroch Chapel and Crematorium, our policies help explain how we care for those entrusted to us, protect personal information, support bereaved families and operate in line with current legislation and recognised professional standards.
Families, funeral directors and visitors place their trust in us at a very important time. We honour that trust by working with dignity, transparency and accountability, and by making key policy information available wherever possible.
These policies are reviewed and updated when required, helping ensure Baldarroch continues to operate safely, respectfully and in line with best practice.
Commitment to best practice
Baldarroch operates in accordance with relevant Scottish cremation legislation, including the Burial and Cremation (Scotland) Act 2016 and the Cremation (Scotland) Regulations 2019.
We also recognise the importance of data protection, staff training, environmental responsibility, safeguarding sensitive information and maintaining accurate records.
Our aim is to provide families and funeral directors with confidence that every aspect of our work is handled with care, professionalism and respect.
Policies that protect families
The policies available from this page cover key areas of crematorium care, privacy, governance and social responsibility.
They include information on how we manage sensitive personal information, how we approach infant and baby cremation, and how we work responsibly as part of the wider Horizon Cremation Group.
Where policies relate to legal, regulatory or sensitive operational matters, they may be updated from time to time to reflect new guidance, legislation or internal procedures.

Privacy and data
Our GDPR policy explains how personal information is collected, used, stored and protected in line with UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018 and cremation record requirements.
Sensitive care
Our infant cremation policy sets out our approach to the cremation of babies and infants, with care, dignity, clear record keeping and a focus on supporting bereaved families.
Responsible operations
Our social responsibility page explains how Baldarroch supports local people, works with local businesses, contributes to charities and aligns with Horizon’s wider ESG commitments.
Continuous improvement
Compliance is not only about meeting statutory requirements. It is also about continually improving standards, investing in training, reviewing procedures and making sure every family receives the highest possible level of care.
As part of Horizon, Baldarroch continues to review and develop policies in line with legislation, professional guidance and the needs of the families and communities we serve.
