Our Chapel & Crematorium
Baldarroch Crematorium is set in a peaceful rural location just off the North Deeside Road at Crathes, near Banchory. The site was chosen for its calm setting, natural outlook and close connection to Baldarroch Farm, from which the crematorium takes its name.
Opened to the public in May 2016, the building was designed to sit sensitively within the Aberdeenshire landscape. Its distinctive form was inspired by a falling leaf, reflecting the circle of life and creating a calm, meaningful setting for funeral and memorial services.
Today, Baldarroch Crematorium is part of the Horizon Cremation family. Horizon continues to care for the crematorium with the same respect for its setting, its history and the families it serves, while investing in the standards, systems and support expected from a modern crematorium group.
Our aim is simple: to provide a beautiful, dignified and unhurried place where families, friends and funeral directors feel supported before, during and after the service.
Facilities, technology & service times
The chapel has been designed to feel serene, private and personal. Families are supported by modern facilities including a hearing loop, music and visual tribute options, public address system and webcasting facilities for those unable to attend in person.
Services may be religious, non-religious or completely personal to the individual being remembered. Our role is to help each service feel calm, respectful and well prepared, with enough time for families to say goodbye without feeling rushed.
Service times are normally available at one and a half hour intervals and may be extended on request. Services outside normal hours, including weekends, may also be possible by arrangement.
Baldarroch Crematorium is cared for by a local team supported by Horizon Cremation, bringing together local knowledge with wider operational experience across the UK. If you have any questions about the chapel, access, service options or visiting the crematorium, please get in touch and we will be happy to help.
